Incense Tree

Herodot wrote, that incense is gained in India, from trees that are all the time guarded by little, colourful, winged snakes. They can be driven away only with smoke. I like this story very much, so I drew this fairytale tree with the guardians. I imagined them rather like small dragons than snakes.

Anyway I'd like to recommend Herodot and his amazing book . When you read it, you can see the world like people 2500 years ago - with its gods, faires, unknown lands and philosophy. No history book is able to render this atmosphere.
